Lucky enough...
Two days ago I was told about Kymco Downtown 300 by a friend. This morning, I ran into one.
Though the rider asked me not to take the picture, the fact is, before his request, I had taken enough to give you the picture of this amazing sports-like scooter.
To stir up the public's interest in this bike is not a bad thing at all especially to Kymco. I'd rather see a lot of this running around Taiwan instead of so-called compact cars which takes easily two to four spaces of any size of scooter. So, here you are..

Front view
The headlight set is the most beautiful part in my personal taste. Aggresive and functional enough. Also the windscreen adds some sports smell into the whole image and seems to offer needed weather protection. However, the height of screen can not be adjusted as Xciting does. Bad news for tall guys.

People said the headlight set looks just like '08 Majesty250's. Once it is fuctional well, why not?  



Side view
The fairing looks really sharp and gives a really sporty look, though the tail section doesn't match the intent very well.
Slopy front foot rest is set there due to the shape of fairing, which makes the rider higher and leads to an elevated gravity. Shame...

Another side view
Foot rest taking the place where a rider might need when supports the bike with both foot would give a hard time to real shorties, while the one for passenger is low and wide to acheive an easy access on/off the bike and comfort.


Rear view
My second favorite part of this bike. Functional and style enough to tell Downtown from another, for the good side. You may say Grand Dink can do as well. Well, that's for another side. No Doubt.


Front Wheel
There is an ABS sensor on the disk, so does on the rear. I ask the rider if ABS is equipped but in vain. He resisted like an oyster but the expression told me everything. DEFINITELY ABS is. 
The tyre spec is 120/80-14. Differing from the main stream of 12 or 13", this one will offer better control and stability. Good news for Kenda. A pair of K433 have been put on instead of already flooding Maxxis M6029.
The upper tube of fork is protected by a fender which looks better than the traditional rubber bellows cover. However, the life time of dust wiper and bushing is a victim. It is not a good tradeoff since the visible benefit is not so obvious on a scooter anyhow.

Rear wheel 
Rear suspensions has preload adjustment. Tyre spec is unknown, because the rider asked me to stop taking its pictures. Hey, I am adv.ing for free..

Gear Box
Gear (belt) box is not that terrifying large as the notorious one on Xciting 500. Cover shape fits well. 

Control panel
Clocks are right in the sports territory with all red scales to declare, though all red techo looks a bit funny. Plastic unpainted covers look solid, but complicated shape makes cleaning a pain.
A real complaint is that this BIG scooter is still lack of hand brake for parking.
Electric control switches are all identical as Xciting, including lever-reach adjusting function.

Muffler
Muffler cover is still a bit of hey-look-at-me and does not fit the rest quite well. The sound is awsome however..
 

Seat
Seat looks not-thing-special. W/o hip rest adjustability, it is more sports-oriented look but somehow lack of practicability in my opinion. Hope the rear rail can be put on a topcase rack directly.

To be honest, if the price could reflect its true value, Downtown would be solid to beat in Taiwan and any other market. However, since Xciting's blowing-mind-off price really works to make itself rare seen in Taiwan (but cheap like Big Mac anywhere else. WTF), we, Taiwanese could hardly see one on road. You guys living outside of Taiwan, please enjoy Downtown 300 well and kindly let us know how good it is.
